How to Prevent an Acne Outbreak during Your Long-Haul Flight to your Destination Wedding
Destination weddings are so much fun! Mostly. A wedding is a wedding, no matter where it is taking place, and, as such, needs a lot of planning, budgeting, calling, emailing, to and fro-ing…It is a lot of work. And then, when all is said and done, and you are on your way to the destination venue (as a guest, or the brides, or the flower girl), you discover that airplane air does not agree with your face. Chest. Back. Pimples, acne, rashes, dry skin…a host of things just break out on your skin that put a definite damper on the joyous (albeit stressful) event. Oh, what to do?
First, Accept That Airplane Acne Exists
Because it does. There is a scientific explanation for this, but the layman low-down is that, airplane air is very dry. So, because of the low humidity in the plane, people prone to dry skin get drier, and people prone to oily skin get oilier (the skin pumps out more oil to counter the lack of moisture in the air). All this mixes up with pre-wedding stress, noisy airports and noisy planes, and voila! Acne. And the wedding is just at the end of the flight! Oh, what to do?!
So, How Exactly Do You Prevent An Acne Outbreak as You Fly to Your Wedding?
Effective Moisturization – Apply moisturizer to damp skin, before, during, and after the flight (at this point, maybe with a little sunscreen if you are in Fiji). Effective Moisturizer – Is one that is oil-free. Oil and skin are great breeding grounds for bacteria, which provide good cause for acne to appear. Use oil-free, water-based moisturizers for clear, healthy, acne-free skin. Invest in Products with Salicylic Acid – They smoothen out the skin without irritations, prevent spots and blotches, and cleanse the pores of impurities. Need more convincing? Go for Tried and Trusted – Before that flight to the wedding destination, please carry along skin products you always use and that work for you. Don’t use this perilous time to try out something new! If it’s new, it should something you have used for at least 3 months. And there you have it. Try to get to the destination venue a day earlier to let your body adjust to the time change (assuming it’s in a different time zone), and, while on the flight, tune out all the noise and the bright lights with earphones, music by Ocean Waves, and sleeping eye patches. On the wedding day, you will be glowing, radiant, and acne-free.
