My wedding fairytale - Page 3
Flowers are the direct arrows to my heart from Cupid. When my husband first chased me, he bought pink roses for me for the first date. Subsequently, at almost every date, he will bring me a stalk of something, a lily, a peony, even a sunflower! When its my birthday or our anniversary, I will be receiving a bouquet of flowers definitely. He even proposed to me with 99 roses and 1 stalk of daisy because he said I am the single white purest thing he ever met and loved. So sweet!!
So many white flowers to choose from and ended up, I don't want to have too much white in my wedding especially since most of the decorations are in white. So I decided to go with the flower below. It is called Forget-Me-Not, what a lovely romantic name, don't you think?
So I need to pair it up with a main hero flower which is pink. I searched through the internet for something lovely but yet meaningful too. Not that I don't want roses in my wedding, but roses are way too common in my opinion. I did end up having some reds in my wedding to brighten the atmosphere but I mainly kept it with pink and white.
After much considerations, I decided to go with peony. Pink peony. Do you know that peonies are traditional floral symbol of China? And they are known as the flower of riches and honor. With their lush, full, rounded bloom, peonies embody romance and prosperity and are regarded as an omen of good fortune and a happy marriage. That is why I want them to be the featured flower in my wedding.
Strangely, I don’t really remember in giving much notice to cakes at weddings. Maybe they are not spectacular enough in my opinion. I didn’t want to fuss around choosing cakes and intend to leave the decision to the vendor since I already had too much on my plate to juggle. Eric is back again to my hometown after his Tokyo business trip but he can’t stay for too long. Jiaoge was the one who changed my mind on cakes when she started to send me pictures and picture of delicious yet beautifully made cakes, you’ll think its an art! That trigger my curiosity and the more I saw, the more I decided to choose my wedding cake.
I like this one but it is too red. This is the one Jiaoge sent me that got my interest perk up.
Settling only for pink and white cakes, this is sweet but too simple and if we were to tier it, it will look monstrous in size.
I love this cake apart from the huge pink ribbon, that is not classy! I rather like the pearls kinda look.
Then my vendor sent me a photo of this which I like but its too country style for my kind of wedding. I want my wedding to leaning on romantic and elegance.
The roses looks nice but I don't think my neighbourhood baker got the skills to do it.
I love how the silver balls perk up the whole wedding cake and made it look more interesting. I am alright if there is not much pink in it.
This is our final cake design!! Very befitting on a princess, right?
After the wedding cake shopping, I decided I need some more shopping therapy for my own sanity. Using the excuse that I have to absolutely get my own bridal shoes, I went out shopping with Eric. It is so good for once to be out, dating my husband-to-be, pretending we are without any care of the world but in fact, my father’s situation and after marriage living arrangements are still lurking around the corner.
But it is time for a little break as we breeze through the malls after a hot sweltering day, air condition blast is totally welcome, we spent the day just like any other lovey-dovey couples on the street. The objective of finding the right shoes managed to distract me from worrying too much.
I saw this at a shoe store near my house but they didn't have my size. Their only size which is size 4, I can't even try it on without hurting myself.
This one is another one I tried on at a shopping mall downtown. Beautiful but not fancy enough for me.
I love the intricate details of this one and the shoes are pretty comfortable too! I am going to seriously consider this one while I go and shop around more.
This pair is pretty too and look at all the jewels and blingbling! Since my wedding is in the afternoon, I'm sure it will sparkle like crazy! This is one size too big, they don't have stock now but the shop is willing to ship over from other cities within a week for me.
Finally, I went with this pair of shoes because I just love pointy toes shoes. Don't ask me why but I have a fetish for pointy toes!
Making use of my time with Eric, we went a lot of places in my hometome and visited a lot of people too, mainly my friends. I am proud of him and I want to show him off to my friends, reassure them he loves me and pampers me very much. That is the important thing in a girl’s life, isn’t it? To find a husband who can take care of you for the rest of your life.
Meanwhile, I also in need to find a new bridal bag to keep my whatsnot. Things like lipstick, pins, oil blotters and tissues are a must for emergency purposes. Where better to keep them than my new bridal bag? Hehe!
I love this elegant bag and the way the bag will 'move' as I move however, they do not have it in white.
This is something in my list as well. I have something similar in black and I love it to bits. Getting this means I can perhaps buy another black one to replace the old one?
This is on top of my list too! But the seller have no stocks for it.
My cousin have a bag that I can borrow if I can't find one I like.
I do like this one especially when I first saw it in the shopping mall when I went shoe shopping with Eric. Very well-made and nice to touch. Definitely on my list but the price is something to consider. My mother did mentioned to me if I want it, she could buy it for me but I don't want her to spend anymore money on me especially she already gave us a trip to Sanya.
Lastly, I found this which is cute enough for me to use after the wedding for some event and the pearls are delicately sewn on my hand. A piece of art, I would say. And the seller was very nice and courteous too, she even waived my shipping charges since it was a bridal bag. :)
Since my husband is here with me, we quickly arrange with the wedding vendor to allow us to conduct food tasting and menu planning. He agrees and made an appointment with the restaurant that caters the food. However, after tasting 10 of its dishes and disliking 6 of them, we strongly requested that the vendor source for another restaurant.
Another headache for us.
I was just beginning to feel that our wedding planning has so much obstacles when my mother came by my bedroom one night and slipped a name card discreetly to me. She says my father heard about the restaurant commotion between us and the vendor and told her to pass me this.
I am so happy!! Maybe that means my father has come round to the idea that his precious daughter is getting married??
Anyways, I did not reveal this to Eric because I know how much pride he has and I don’t want to dent that. Instead, I mentioned to the vendor and got him to arrange to visit the restaurant.
The restaurant is pretty dark for its ambience. But most importantly, the food must be good!
Stewed Pork meat is one of my favourite!! Eric loves this, the smell alone makes us both drool in anticipation.
The fish is very fresh and I love that it doesn't have any fishy smell.
This is another kind of stew chicken which the meat is so tender that both of us just wiped out the whole bowl completely.
Lotus is significant in a wedding as it represent many children.
Longevity noodles is also one of their specialty. Usually ate during one's birthday but we like the restaurant's idea to place this in the menu as well.
Frog in curry stew, very unique and tasty. Eric finished it all up because I am too full.
Green peppers with beef.
Jumping Chinese Wine Prawns. Although I am bursting with food, I just have to try this and I ended up finishing more than my portion because it is just so good!
In the end, we both decided to go with this restaurant even if it means topping up with more money however, the vendor said the restaurant is willing to accommodate to our initial pricing.
Strange but I suspect that my father might have a hand in it.
All the stress has gotten onto my face and I am having an acne outbreak!! Help! Luckily, my cousin on hand is here to help with most of the preparation work and my future husband is back in Beijing and he wouldn’t see the uglier version of me. So frantically, my cousin and I research online on her computer on the nearest beauty salons for their reviews and available appointment times.
The moment I saw the photos of the spa, I knew I don't have to look further. Its reputation and ambience won me over. This spa have a lot of good customers reviews.
The moment I walked into the spa, I was slightly taken aback by the dark teak wood furnishings and the European style instead of the usual Balinese style.
The room I booked have two rooms, one is the Sunlight room with its own bath and the other is below which is a dark moonlight room. My therapist asked me to choose my room and what kind of treatment would I be taking.
I did a diamond peel facial, a coffee bean body scrub and a Swedish hot stone massage. After feeling refreshing and rejuvenated, they actually served me with herbal dessert that is good for the skin and nourish the body.
Looking for a photographer is very easy in China but look for a good professional one is pretty hard. Most photographers will tell you that they are the real thing, with awards and such until you visit their studio and you realized that it is just an extension of their house or some cheap warehouse slot. I am not experienced in this and I don’t want to visit some stranger’s apartment doubled up as a studio so I got my girls to go together with me on with a list of recommendations found on the internet. Safety in groups! It does turned out I let my imagination ran too wild. Haha!
The first studio we visited is quite dingy even though thy said they only started business a week ago but it doesn't look like it gives a lot of confidence to its clients.
This is the second one we went and Amy just had to pull me out after she whiff something nasty.
Okay, this is more like it within the shopping mall and looks very presentable. But the service staff are not so friendly, they just passed us an album when we requested to have a look at the photographer's portfolio. They are more concerned about serving the other bride. :(
This is the last one and we went with them. It is located at the same shopping mall and we just happened to walk by when we are visiting the 3rd one. The staff is very friendly even served us tea while walking us through their different photographers' styles and portfolio for me to choose from. They actually didn't allow us to take any photos so I sneak in a few.
I had a chance to attend one of my old classmate’s wedding earlier on and I was pretty impressed on the decorations of her wedding. She had held her wedding at a ballroom in a hotel but the special part is that she and her husband had specially handmade cookies for all the guests to take home. That is not all, the cookies were in the shape of their initials.
So sweet and made me so envious. I couldn’t cook to save my life, let alone bake. So I decided to go and find special decorations to be placed on my table so that my guests can bring them home for remembrance sake.
I found some giant numberings to place on the tables to represent who sit where.
On the table, the florist will place the flower arrangement of my choice. I will scattered crystals around the table to make them sparkle under the sunlight.
For the guests to bring home, they will receive a macaron look a like pouch and we will place chocolates within to signify sugary sweetness in our lives.
In addition, our guests will also receive a miniature snow globe representing each season: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. I got the shop to engrave the guest's name together with our names and wedding date onto the base of the globes.
